The first book in the 'Read-in-any-order' Twisted tale series by Liz Braswell, A Whole New World promises to tell the classic tale of Disney's Aladdin in a new way, by putting the characters you know (and new ones) in a what-if scenario... What if Aladdin never found the lamp?
This book had it's moments, but they were very few and far between. I feel like it could have been much better, in terms of story and actual writing. However, the few moments in the book that stood out to me kept me reading. But that is not enough to save this book. Its probably a bad sign that it took 100+ pages to get to the twist for this tale, before that point (aside from the prologue) its word for word and step for step the same as the movie, which is fine but disappointing for the book's promise of freshness to the classic Disney tale.
Over all, I think you could enjoy this a lot more if you are new to reading or haven't seen the animation.
